How much should you spend on a ceramic coating, and how much do they realistically cost? I like simple, straight to the point answers. So here are our average full exterior 3 year ceramic coating prices.

What Is A Ceramic Coating?
Because we are detailers, we know the technical or science behind a ceramic coating, but this is why our Central Florida Detailing business is here. A ceramic coating is like a strong yet thin coating of sunblock/suntan lotion that you put on before you enjoy a day at the beach! It’s a durable and hard layer (9H) of Silicon Dioxide which cures into a thin layer that protects your vehicle’s paint, glass and other surfaces that it is applied to.
The coating does more than give durable protection. It gives a rich. glossy appearance to the car’s paint. With a protection like this it will last anywhere from 1 and 7+ years depending on the wash maintenance and coating duration you choose. In short, the coating has 2 main jobs:
Long term paint protection
Beautiful gloss and shine (we mean it CRAZY gloss!)

You may ask… Why are Ceramic Coatings So Expensive?
PREPARATION. the preparation to begin the coating application takes TIME. On average proper ceramic coatings take up to 10-16 hours. Factors such as vehicle condition, if a paint correction is performed, and the areas protected by ceramic coating all determine how long it will take to complete the service.
DURABILITY. Ceramic coatings are one of the most advanced forms of paint protection. The purpose is to help protect your car for years. Alternative forms of paint protection are vinyl wraps and PPF both have their purposes. What can enhance those alternatives? A ceramic coating! Ceramic coatings are not bulletproof, they will require proper wash maintenance to ensure they last for as long as possible.
TRAINING. in order to properly install a ceramic coating, we put ourselves through education. Learning the complete process - from the washing, paint prep, paint correction to finishing with a high glossed and protected vehicle. Our work isn’t left to chance but to EXPERIENCE and TRAINING.
How Does A Ceramic Coating Work?
After the ceramic coating is applied to the paint, it is as if your vehicle has an extra layer of ultra durable, scratch resistant, and hydrophobic skin. Ceramics are designed to protect against everything that touches the paint from the outside world: bird droppings, bugs, rain, pollen, surface scratches, and much more.
While normal auto detailing services can help clean and protect the paint temporarily, ceramic coatings form a sort of shield that protect your investment until the day it’s traded in which means more money in your pocket! Washing and maintaining your car is inconvenient and tiresome…
So after we spend $50,000 on a vehicle we slowly watch it degrade more and more over time because we just don’t want to keep up with it. We think it’s crazy to pay thousands of dollars for a car, drive it unprotected, and trade it in for pennies years later.
After the paint has been completely cleaned, decontaminated, and we’ve created a smooth surface through paint correction, a thin layer of the liquid ceramic coating is applied to the paint, left to cure, then carefully buffed off until all that remains is a thin ceramic layer that is left for 24 hours in order to cure. It’s that simple.

what are the different things we are trying to protect from?
Firstly, the sun is by far your biggest threat when it comes to causing your cars paint to fail. the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays can cause a clear coat to fade OR otherwise known as oxidation. We'll provide a picture so you can better understand what it may look like.
Now, if your vehicle ever gets to this condition it wont be the end of the world. This could be restored and fixed with repainting your vehicle at a body shop, which we all know can cost you tons of money. This is why its important to take action now and add some protection on your vehicles exterior to keep it looking nice & shiny and not dull & dry.
The second and most typical cause of paint and clear coat failure is debris from the road and other weather conditions. We've all experienced driving on the highway and painfully hearing rocks hit our car creating rock chips and damaging our clear coat. What are we gonna do? Pull on the side of the road? Of course not.
Instead what we can do is focus on what we can control. By adding a layer of protection; Ceramic coating; on top of your clear coat is one of those things you can do to help extend the life and vibrancy of you paint. worse case scenario this will make it much easier and cheaper to repair if it comes to it.

Most of the examples we talked about are prone to happen since they are out of our control, however, one thing is for certain, you are in control of certain things. Here's what you can do to help protect your shiny paint from becoming dull and dry before its time.
One of the biggest control factors when it comes to your car, is where you take it to get washed and how it gets washed. Automatic car washes get a bad rep from many car detailing professionals simply because they wash dozens if not thousands of vehicles a day without properly cleaning or restoring their brushes or equipment.
Now, the point isn't to speak ill of the local car washes in and around Orlando Florida. Instead, the point is the educate you so you can make your own educated decision that way you can make the best investment for your vehicle in the long run.
When you decide to have your car cleaned at a car wash - drive thru or local shop, you're choosing convenience and saving time. Which by all means are two valid and solid reasons. However, it's important that you are aware of how these actually work. These automatic car washes, have abrasive nylon brushes that rotate at really high speeds which can leave hundreds of scratches and swirl marks on the clear coat.
If you're someone who prefers to save time and still enjoys the idea of going to a car wash on the weekends, if possible, opt for a touch-less car wash or an eco-friendly car wash. Sure, you might take a little longer, but your car will definitely stay clean and shiny for a while longer in the long run.
